Serial Drama Revisited. Fernsehserien 2005/2006

Tuesday, July 5, 14.00–17.30 hrs
in cooperation with ProSieben Television GmbH

What’s next in serial drama? Established brands begin to wane, programs of US origin witness a new surge in popularity in German television, while local serial drama production seems to be in a state of crisis. At the same time, new sub-genres have emerged with the adaptation of the telenovela and the sprawl of inexpensive crime docu-soaps. Keeping the international context in mind, this seminar will provide an overview of broadcasters’ and producers’ strategies to revitalize the genre in the coming TV season.
