Bad Posture

Feature Film | USA 2011 | 93' | OV

If Jim Jarmusch were thirty years younger, he would make a film like this. BAD POSTURE is an independent picture as it should be: laconic and full of humor, realistic and romantic – and very close to its characters, a cast that seems to have been assembled straight from the next corner. Flo (played by screenwriter Florian Brozek) is fired because he smokes too much at work. As they hang out in a park, his roommate spurs him on to strike up a conversation with a pretty girl. While Flo flirts with the student, his buddy steals her wallet and her car. »I’m trying to pay our rent here«, he later says to justify his actions. These two are no hardened criminals, though, but rather a couple of likeable losers trying to make do in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Director, screenwriter, cinematographer and editor Malcolm Murray has succeeded in doing what many set out to do, but few actually accomplish: to make a cool and intelligent movie for young people.
