Hit & Miss

TV-Series | GB 2012 | 52' | OV

Professional killers are popular protagonists in film and television. Of course, Paul Abbott, who won the Hollywood Reporter Award at last year’s Cologne Conference, does not settle for the standard story of a hit man in his new series. Chloë Sevigny plays Mia, a transsexual killer suddenly faced with the task of caring for the four children of her former companion, who has died of cancer. How do you tell the little ones that their new mommy used to be a daddy once? At first, the kids keep their distance. But Mia gradually manages to win their respect. However, her new role as a mother – or is it the hormonal treatment? – also changes her perspective on her job: the stone-cold contract killer suddenly displays emotion. As in his hit series SHAMELESS, Abbott again focuses on a highly unconventional family and has found a lead actress in Chloë Sevigny who fearlessly shows her androgynous side.
