Tatort: Schwarzes Wochenende

TV-Movie | DE 1986 | 95' | OV

In his thirteenth case Schimanski haunts the superficially elegant world of furniture industrialists, after a murder that happened in the hotel room right next to his. But the cult detective has a handicap: During the time of the deed he was sleeping off his massive inebriation after he had to watch a particularly grisly suicide by hand grenade the day before. So Schimanski is battling not only several suspects but also a bad hangover and a gnawing weariness of his job. With SCHWARZES WOCHENENDE German genre master Dominik Graf set new standards for directing and the leading of actors. With his artistic, fragmented narrative of violence and trauma in Schimanski’s daily routine on the job he manages an impressive portray of this superficially simple but under the surface rather complex detective. The ensemble, too, featuring stars like Dieter Pfaff, Mariele Millowitsch and Marita Breuer is of outstanding quality and has never been better than in this TV crime classic.
