The biggest train robbery of all times, on which the movie THE GREAT BRITISH TRAIN ROBBERY is based, marks its 50th anniversary this year. In the docu-drama DIE GENTLEMEN BATEN ZUR KASSE the story of Bruce Reynolds, Ronnie Biggs and Co is unrolled in a new and surprising way. Archive material of BBC and ITV reporters as well as new inquiries and interviews with the living members of the original gang, their relatives and Scotland Yard investigaters bring this fascinating piece of movie history back to life. Following the screening the publicist Dietrich Leder and the director of the movie Carl-Ludwig Rettinger will discuss the development and the background of the movie. The evening will end with a small reception in the Forum of the Filmforum. The movie is supported by the Film und Medien Stiftung NRW.
