Way to go

TV-Series | GB 2013 | 2x30' | OV

Something like this is only possible on British public television: WAY TO GO is a pitch-black comedy series about three losers who come up with the idea of constructing a suicide contraption as a means to remedy their financial woes. Scott works the front desk of a veterinary clinic where incontinent lap dogs are the order of the day. The major concern of his half-brother, notorious womanizer Joey, are the criminals who fund his gambling habit. Their mate, comedian Cozzo, lethargically repairs broken machinery in fast-food restaurants. When Scott’s incurably ill neighbor offers him the precious shoes of football legend George Best for help with his suicide, he is initially shocked – but his two best friends prove to be more unscrupulous. Screenwriter Bob Kushell has previously worked for THE SIMPSONS, and Catherine Morshead’s directing credits include episodes of DOWNTON ABBEY, THE HOURS, and DOCTOR WHO. In this case, however, their brainchild is more of a mix of the transgressive humor of US comedy King Judd Apatow and trademark British eccentricity. Great fun that knows no taboos.
