Retrospektive Michael Radford (1996)

Born in New Delhi to a British father and an Austrian mother in 1946, Michael Radford attended Oxford University, graduating with honors in Politics and Philosophy. After working as a teacher, he became one of the first students at the newly opened National Film School in 1971. After graduation, he made a number of documentaries, including THE MADONNA AND THE VOLCANO, which was awarded »Best Documentary« at the Lyon Film Festival in 1979. The BBC production deals with music from the Naples region and its interpreters. He also worked for the BBC as a scriptwriter, producer, cameraman and author for comedy shows. The special support of national cinema by British television also offered Michael Radford new opportunities.
