This Direct Cinema-Portrait shows the highly individual German politician Franz-Josef Strauß in the year 1965, just recovered from the SPIEGEL-affair and shortly before being appointed Finance Minister. Closely following Strauß, furious in a meeting of the CSU-members in Parliament or at home with his wife Marianne – while leaving out any commentary, interviews and direct communication with the stubborn Bavarian, the almost poetic film »tells us more about Strauß than ever has been written about him.« (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
