The documentary follows closely Senators John F. Kennedy and Hubert Humphrey competing to run for the presidency in Wisconsin in 1960. The personality of the two Democratic politicians and their different strategies for their election campaign is accentuated using cross-cutting technique. This first Direct Cinema-Film demonstrates the potentials of a new visual strategy not yet fully developed, which makes it a milestone in the history of documentary film.
