Shake – Otis at Monterey

Otis Reddings’ moving performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, just three months before he was killed in a plane crash. Backed by Booker T. and the MGs and The Mar-Keys, Redding is all gritty energy and slow-burn fire and reminds us of his contributions to the pop world. The film is mostly performance footage, but Pennebaker, Hegedus and Dawkins also manage to capture some of the overall Monterey Pop flavor. »You’ve never seen faces like those of the women listening to „Try a Little Tenderness.“« (Washington Post).
