In 1948, four wealthy Belgian families sell all their possessions and set sail fot the other side of the world. They go to Patagonia, from which they intend never to return. 50-Years-Old Gabril de Halleux is one of the patriarchs of the adventure. One after another, his companions abandon the futureless, windswept and godforsacken hole – but Gabriel clings to his dream and remains until his death in 1988. Softly paced, poetic documentary combining extraordinary footage shot by the explorers, interviews with Gabriel’s wife and children and new, beautifull photographed material from Patagonia. The story of a man who went a long way only to get closer to himself. »A l’issue de ce voyage, on se sent un peu Halleux soi-même, un peu plus libre. Et c’est délicieux« (Télérama).
