GLOBAL DAY – STORYTELLING AS AN INSTRUMENT OF DEVELOPMENT POLICY

Tue | 15. Oct | 14:00 h

Filmpalast 3

In cooperation with Engagement Global, MISEREOR, Deutsche UNESCO-Kommission and DW Akademie

Existential global problems like climate change, hunger, war or resource depletion demand international cooperation and developmental policies more urgently than ever. Modern audiovisual media and and digital social media campaigns present completely new possibilities in that regard – especially in reaching large chunks of the general public, informing people and mobilize them on an emotional level. But how does storytelling work as a political and developmental instrument? And what are the requirements and possibilities of the partner countries? At GLOBAL DAY activists from Germany and Africa present strategies, new projects and best practice cases. Furthermore, in the evening there will be screenings of  two outstanding movies, whose filmmakers present for a follow-up Q&A.
