Since 2016, the NRW Film Award has been presented. Endowed with €20,000, it honors the best entry in the NRW Competition. The award is supported by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the City of Cologne, and the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.
The NRW Film Award 2025 was given to Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay and Claus Herzog-Reichel of the Cologne-based production company filmfaust for the film HYSTERIA.
