Film Award NRW

The Film Award NRW has been awarded since 2016. The prize is endowed with 20,000 euros, honors the best entry in the NRW competition and is sponsored by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. In 2022, the award went to A ROOM OF MY OWN (produced by Eva Blondiau and Elmar Imanov).

Jury statement:

Introverted Tina just moved to Tbilisi and meets extroverted Megi, who dreams of moving to the USA. Two very different young women who slowly get closer to each other in a shared flat. With little means but all the greater directing talent, up-and-coming director Ioseb Bliazde and his co-writer and leading actress Taki Mumladze tell the intimate portrait of a woman in search of herself as a subtle emancipation and a tender love story. The film reflects on gender roles and patriarchal structures, not only in Georgian society, and is a convincing snapshot of precarious everyday life in the pandemic. A small cinematic miracle that gives hope.
