BEAUFORT

In the midst of enemy territory, Israeli soldiers in the fortress of Beaufort sit waiting to go back home. But Hezbollah is trying to win a final propaganda victory: though the Israeli pullback has long been planned, the Shia militants keep firing grenades hoping to create the impression of a forced retreat. Director Joseph Cedar, himself a veteran of the First Lebanon War, tells this story based on true events consistently from the perspective of the soldiers. They have to risk their very real lives for a place that has only symbolic meaning.
