DIE SIRENE

This touching and visually stunning animated film tells the story of survival in the First Gulf War from a child's perspective. In 1980, the center of Iranian oil production is under Iraqi occupation. Many have fled the city of Abadan, but 14-year-old Omid has stayed with his grandfather. He is waiting for his older brother to return from the front. On his wanderings, the boy meets people who, like him, have reasons to persevere. When Omid discovers an old boat in the harbour, he wants to convert it into an ark to save them all.
