AMELIE (2001) is an enchanting tale about selflessness and the small wonders of everyday life. The title character is a shy young woman who decides to secretly improve the lives of the people around her and bring them joy. It all begins when she finds an old tin can full of childhood memories in her flat and tracks down its owner. The joy she brings him inspires her to keep going – whether it's supporting a lonely neighbour, giving a colleague confidence or helping a stranger. At the same time, she realises that she must not forget herself. She must overcome her fears and allow herself to love.
