CROCODILE TEARS

Johan runs a crocodile enclosure with his domineering mother, who seems closer to the predatory animals than to the human visitors. When the insecure boy falls in love with a girl from the city, the already fragile balance between mother and son is completely disrupted. The feature film debut of Indonesian filmmaker Tumpal Tampubolon is a mixture of coming-of-age, kitchen-sink social drama and Freudian animal horror.
