Tommaso Buscetta was the first high-ranking mafia lieutenant to break the organization's vow of silence. His testimony lead to the arrests and convictions of hundreds of clan members in the late 80s and early 90s in Italy. Marco Bellocchio (VINCERE) tells the story of Buscetta and these so-called “Maxi” trials with his typical mixture of realism and operatic verve. And in Pierfranceso Favini he has found a star who lends an impressive intensity to Buscetta's portrayal.
