The two sisters Charlotte and Caroline von Lengefeld once swore to always share everything with each other – but when handsome but broke poet Fridrich Schiller comes to visit their bucolic home-town, this resolution is put to a tough test. With this film, the otherwise decidedly modern Dominik Graf followed his other passion: German poets of the era of Romanticism and Sturm und Drang. After his chaste and contemplative film about Clemens Brentano THE VOW, this is more of an exuberantly sensual and temperamental three-way affair full of love and lust for life.
