DIE SIEGER (DIRECTOR’S CUT)
In its time THE INVINCIBLES was bashed by critics and ignored by audiences, but since then it has become an almost mythic milestone in German cinema, a resolute statement towards a new, dirty genre filmmaking. Graf’s exploration of the ultra-masculine milieus of both the bad guys and the cops in this crime thriller can be seen as an early draft for his series IN THE FACE OF CRIME, or even as a German predecessor for HEAT. But most of all it’s a film the likes of which we see all too rarely: unafraid, straight-shooting and still complex – even more so in this Director’s Cut.
