For his last film TAXI Jafar Panahi won the Golden Bear in Berlin in 2015. For THREE FACES the filmmaker, banned from his profession in his home country, again takes the place behind the wheel. Together with actress Behnaz Jafari he drives into a remote mountain village in order to find a girl that has sent him dramatic video messages via cell phone: Did she really commit suicide because her parents wouldn't let her join an acting school in Tehran? Panahi and Jafari play themselves, but the story is fictional: With simple artistic devices and subtle humor, this thriller plot turns into a movie about gender roles in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
