EINE GESCHLOSSENE GESELLSCHAFT
A boarding school in Westphalia, the “economic miracle” years of German rebuilding after the Second World War are about to start. Five men from all walks of life were products of that school and with the distance of 35 years report about the blessings and curses of a Catholic upbringing. With illustrious contemporary witnesses Breloer tests his editing technique, assembling old amateur film footage and new interviews with re-enacted scenes to a patchwork. Breloer knows what he’s talking about: between 1953 and 1961 he was himself a part of that group of boarding school children.
