GAVAGAI

During the conflict-ridden filming of a “Medea” adaptation in Senegal, Maja takes refuge in an affair with her co-star Nourou. Months later, the two meet again at the film’s premiere in Berlin. Old feelings flare up, but a racist incident clouds their reunion. As the ancient tragedy comes to a head on screen, a contemporary drama unfolds. Ulrich Köhler (IN MY ROOM) delivers a compelling film-within-a-film about the complexities and pitfalls of intercultural coexistence in 2025.
