I ONLY REST IN THE STORM

Sergio, a Portuguese man, arrives in a West African metropolis to assess the consequences of a major new road project for an NGO. But soon he becomes more interested in the femme fatale Diara and her queer friend Gui. A “white savior” in the dark gray zone: Pedro Pinho’s epic second feature film paints a less than flattering picture of development work and, at the same time, a dazzling panoramic view of life in a modern African metropolis. Sergio has to realize that, despite all his privileges, he is not really up to the complex realities of life there.
