KOKOLOKO

A small Mexican coastal city, ravaged by crime, police violence and guerilla fighting is the setting for a tragic love triangle around Marisol, who triggers a war between two men who both think they own her. After the success of MISS BALA and a short stint in Hollywood, filmmaker Gerardo Naranjo returns to his home country and his roots: His raw and in-your-face directing style and the analogue 16mm material make this film resemble a fever dream: surreal, sexual and violent, but also full of rage and helplessness in the face of the catastrophic social conditions.
