ABODE OF DAWN

In the depths of Siberia, people from all over the world live in the self-built “sun city”. They are all united by their belief in a man who considers himself to be the reincarnation of Christ and who calls himself Vissarion – whom his disciples, however, hardly ever see. Life in this no man’s land is simple, traditional and hard, yet everyone has come here voluntarily, not least to escape the complexity of modern life. Do they find happiness here? Kristina Shtubert has made less of a cautionary film about a sect than an open search for the answer to this question.
