The baker Mauritz is found shot. In the absence of any clues his Thai wife becomes the prime suspect. The marriage between her and Mauritz had been arranged by a matchmaking agency in Germany. After the death of her husband the young woman is threatened by expulsion. Her obvious anxiety, which she tries to exorcise with the help of Thai rituals, suggests sinister reasons to chief inspectors Batic and Leitmayr. Critics praised this episode of the longstanding series TATORT as one of the best ever.
