VORTEX

With VORTEX, Gaspar Noé has produced a surprisingly calm movie, without any sex, violence or drugs – but not without death. He watches an ageing couple, played by Françoise Lebrun and Dario Argento, for 135 minutes. The twist is as simple and brilliant as it is typical Noé: In a split screen we see him on one side and her on the other, two people living in the same apartment, but still leading separate lives. This way, VORTEX becomes a small, and yet grand and moving film about dying.
