Even if he always travels to the fringes of US society in his films, Italian filmmaker Roberto Minervini never falls back on trivial social realism. His new and multiple award-winning documentary portraits African Americans in New Orleans and the surrounding area - activists of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, a bar proprietress, a teenager taking responsibility for his younger brother. In impressionistic black-and-white images he finds poetry even in the harshest of living conditions.
