ZODIAC KILLER PROJECT

A film about a film that doesn’t exist. Charlie Shackleton wanted to make a documentary about the famous Zodiac Killer, but then there were rights and financing problems and the project, which had been in research for years, had to be cancelled. A stroke of luck, because instead Shackleton made a unique essay film, a kind of applied cinematic self-criticism in which he analyses the narrative and visual clichés that the immensely successful true crime genre has produced. Winner of the Innovator Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
