Welcome to the FILM FESTIVAL COLOGNE – your festival for keeping up with movies, pop culture, and society.
Since our founding in 1991, we have developed into one of Germany's most important film festivals. We serve as a platform for creative exchange, a showcase for the latest international film and TV series highlights, and an illustrious meeting spot for the industry.
Over the course of eight festival days, we focus on innovation, internationalism and socially relevant topics. We screen a selection of this year’s best international features and documentaries, and present outstanding productions and co-productions from Cologne and North Rhine-Westphalia. Our carefully curated programme creates space for discussions and discovery. In doing so, we specifically promote young talents and provide new impulses for the future of storytelling. Just like our film selection, our guests and award winners are of the highest international renown – and consistently impact the festival year after year.
The prestigious FILM FESTIVAL COLOGNE AWARDS honor the exceptional filmmakers of our time – past recipients include David Lynch, Jane Campion, Luca Guadagnino, Justine Triet, Lars von Trier, Sandra Hüller, Isabelle Huppert, Mads Mikkelsen, and many more.
Additionally, our industry conferences, such as European Series Day, Global Day, Stories for Change and the Benelux Networking Event, serve as catalysts and forums for discussion on the future of audiovisual storytelling, opening up new perspectives for the industry.
Our audience is young, curious and enthusiastic – and shapes our festival's character anew every year.
The FILM FESTIVAL COLOGNE is committed to creating a respectful, inclusive and safe environment for everyone.
