In ten chapters, the German auteur examines in his inimitable way how the Internet is changing our world – for better and for worse at the same time. He talks to victims of cyber-bullying, watches robots play ball, and explains how an online game might help cure cancer and AIDS. An avowed smartphone holdout, Herzog is as apocalyptic as ever in his observations, but a true fascination for technology and its inventors is shining through. In the end, this makes LO AND BEHOLD a typical Herzog film in the best sense – after all, his earlier expeditions to remote corners were similarly driven by his interest in how far willpower and imagination can take an individual and humanity at large.
