A young prostitute has been murdered. Two cops arrest a certain John Walter Wayland. A lie detector test is arranged to prove that the theory the experienced detectives have about the deed is correct. Unfortunately, the intelligent Wayland is able to turn the tables on them and digs up a few juicy details about the lives these exemplary cops have been leading. So who's lying and who's telling the truth? A deadly cat-and-mouse game develops between the men.
