The Man Who Fell To Earth
In Cooperation with Studiocanal und Intro
Seeking to end the water shortage on his planet, alien Thomas lands on Earth. The hyper-intelligent alien draws on patents from his home planet to build his business empire in a short time. He intends to leverage the company's financial strength to transport water to his own planet. At the same time, he also becomes involved with the maid Mary-Lou. However, his competition is jealous of his success – and his confidante, scientist Dr. Bryce, is prone to expose Thomas' true identity and the full scope of his intentions. In his fourth film Nicolas Roeg (DON'T LOOK NOW) takes a look at Planet Earth from the critical perspective of an extra-terrestrial. Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, this is an exceptional science fiction film whose visual composition unmistakably betrays the hand of its director. David Bowie is an inspired casting choice and shines in the title role. We presented the film on the occasion of the publication of a digitally restored 4K version.
