The ceremonial highlight of the FILM FESTIVAL COLOGNE is the presentation of the awards. This year's winner of the Filmpreis Köln is Raoul Peck, who is represented in the festival program with his film ERNEST COLE: LOST AND FOUND. This year's Hollywood Reporter Award goes to Mohammad Rasulof for THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG. In addition, Michael Premo will be honored with the phoenix Prize for HOMEGROWN and the International Actors Award will go to Udo Kier this year. This year's Filmpreis NRW goes to DES TEUFELS BAD from the Cologne production company Heimatfilm.
Filmpreis Köln
The Filmpreis Köln, sponsored by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the City of Cologne, is endowed with 25,000 euros and this year goes to the film director, screenwriter and former Minister of Culture of Haiti Raoul Peck.
The Hollywood Reporter Award
The Hollywood Reporter Award honors the best fictional contribution in the Top TV and Best of Cinema Fiction competition series. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros and this year goes to Mohammad Rasoulof for THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG.
International Actors Award
The International Actors Award honors personalities who have achieved fame and recognition in the international film and TV industry through their outstanding acting performances. This year, the German actor Udo Kier is being honored.
phoenix Preis
The phoenix Prize is awarded for the best documentary film in the Top TV and Best of Cinema Documentary competition series and this year goes to the American artist and director Michael Premo for his documentary film HOMEGROWN.
Filmpreis NRW
The Filmpreis NRW has been awarded since 2016. The award is endowed with 20,000 euros and honors the best entry in the NRW competition. The award is sponsored by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the city of Cologne and the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. This year's winning film is DES TEUFELS BAD from the Cologne production company Heimatfilm.
NRW-Medienpreis
for development policy engagement
The NRW Media Prize for Development Policy Engagement is jointly awarded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and SGP Social Globe Projects UG and is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. The prize honors outstanding campaigns from Germany on the topics of development cooperation, global goals and implementation of the 2030 Agenda, which succeed in reaching new target groups in an innovative and far-reaching way via digital moving images and social media. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros (1st place), 3,000 euros (2nd place) and 2,000 euros (3rd place).
