TV Comedy: Is there a German way? Successful formats between adaptation and originality
A collaboration between the Adolf Grimme Akademy and Brainpool
Comedy is booming on German television – even if »Der Spiegel« doubts it. But what exactly is ‘German comedy’? What are its strengths? How do German comedy programs differ from rival shows abroad? And above all: How can long-term quality and success be assured in this area? At the event, these questions will be addressed on the basis of examples. Podium representatives from different productions and companies, media critics, and the audience will have the opportunity to exchange views on the self-understanding and particularities of German comedy shows and on future requirements in this segment.
Participants on the podium:
Christiane Ruff, Columbia Tristar, Cologne
Axel Beyer, Endemol, Cologne
Ulrich Brock, SAT.1, Hamburg
Stefan Niggemeyer, Journalist, Hamburg
Martin Kess, Brainpool TV, Cologne
