Monday, 5. Jun 2000, 14:00
show all movies from 2000

The market for children's television programming is booming. In recent years, the number of children's channels has grown considerably all over the world and the demand for high-quality andf highly contemporary children's programming has kept pace with this growth. The quality of today's children's programs, particularly in the animated sector, really leaves nothing to be desired. Even German cartoon producers have become internationally competitive after years of playing catch up with the large U.S. and British studios.

Children's programs are produced and marketed according to their own very special set of rules. In the contrast to series and movies for adults, which are becoming increasingly gearded to national markets, the market for children's TV is clearly becoming ever more globalized. Super RTL airs the children's line-up with the farthest reach in Europe and is the first port of call for all new children's productions. This is why the cahnnel would like to take the opportunity offered by this workshop to show all those intrested the mechanisms at work on the international marketplace for children's programming. After an introduction to the financing and costing structure for series and films targeted at TV's youngest viewers, an outlook for the market for children's shows will also be on the agenda for the workshop.
