It begins in a fairy-tale setting in Sweden, with deep-blue lakes and gently murmuring forests. But two tourists are found dead. The search for the killer transforms the village community into a mire of lust, lies, and betrayal. With its dreary, cryptic atmosphere, BEKÄNNELSEN is in the tradition of Swedish crime literature, above all the popular plays of Hennink Mankell (which have also been filmed by Swedish television). Daniel Lind Lagerlöf dissects his protagonists mercilessly and provides emotional, highly suspenseful drama up to the very last minute. Author Ulf Ryberg had previously written the screenplay for Ole Bornedal’s DYBT LAND (TV Spielfilm Prize, 1999).
