Günther Kaußen, the »slumlord« as he been called in the USA, became a synonym for housing speculation and rack-renting in Germany. In 1985 Kaußen committed suicide. In a combination of fictional and documentary material the film features testimonies from politicians, former tenants and from the few people that were close to him.
