Le sang du renard

In a remote mountain village simple-minded Severin lives with his older Sister Raymonde (Marianne Basler). She is still unmarried, but not willing to become an old maid. When Severin accidentally pushes Marinette, a flirtatious young woman, into the river, she only narrowly escapes drowning thanks to the swift action of the little Jean-Noël. Raymonde convinces Severin that he has actually killed Marinette and locks him into the attic to »protect him from the police«. In this way, she finally is free to surrender to the advances of her neighbour Fernand. Director Serge Meynard carefully balances rural idyl and village claustrophobia.
