Crook Louis Bloom is looking for a new source of income. He comes up with the idea of taking photos and videos of accidents and acts of violence in Los Angeles at night. He delivers the footage to journalist Nina, who brings her station high ratings. In order to get better and better footage, Louis and his trainee Rick operate on the edge of legality. The two go one step too far in a triple robbery-murder.
