Can a good actor play everything? With Albrecht Schuch, one is tempted to exclaim: definitely! The range of roles with which Schuch, born in 1986 in Jena, has conquered German cinema in recent years is just remarkable: He first raised eyebrows as 19th century explorer Alexander von Humboldt in MEASURING THE WORLD and followed that with performances as a painter's husband in PAULA and as a very patient social worker in SYSTEM CRASHER. He won the German Film Award for this, as he did again for his portrayal of charismatic villain Reinhold in BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ. And hat was still only the beginning: In this shortened year of cinema he can be seen on screen in three different films: as the postgard student Ladube, questioning both himself and the system, in FABIAN; as a Nazi henchman in THE ROYAL GAME and right here at the FILM FESTIVAL COLOGNE in DEAR THOMAS. Once again he totally transforms as he embodies the great east-west German poet and filmmaker Thomas Brasch, letting both his passions as well as his dark side shine through. Without a doubt, Albrecht Schuch ist the most exciting and versatile German actor at this moment.
