A MARBLE TRAVELOGUE

The absurdities of globalisation: Greek marble is being shipped all the way to China, where it‘s being sculpted into knick-knack, only to be re-imported to Greece, where it‘s sold to Chinese tourists who then proudly haul their pseudo-antique kitsch right back home to China. And this is just one plot strand of the Greek-Chinese marble trade that director Sean Wang explores with a lot of visual humour in his latest film. As usual, reality turns out to be more surreal than any fiction.
