It’s a trans-Atlantic meeting of the eccentric geniuses. French director Leos Carax (HOLY MOTORS) brings to screen a concept album of the US brothers Ron and Russell Mael, who enjoy a cult following under the name Sparks. Adam Driver plays a celebrated comedian in love with an opera singer (Marion Cotillard). After the birth of their daughter Annette their relationship takes a tragic turn – and nothing more shall be revealed here. It’s one of the most idiosyncratic musicals of all time, and was filmed in parts here in NRW.
