Mia Hansen-Løve once explained the tension at the heart of her films like that: “How can we speak truthfully, honestly and clearly about the cruelties of life, while at the same time offer a form of salvation, a love for life?” Her new movie ONE FINE MORNING describes exactly this dual movement: when young widow Sandra has to care for her father whose health is in rapid decline, she at the same time is rediscovering her life and falls in love again.

Since 2007 this French filmmaker, whose Scandinavian name was handed down by her Danish grandfather, has directed eight feature length films in the proud tradition of the Nouvelle Vague. Just like Truffaut, Godard and Rohmer the daughter of a philosophy teacher started as a film critic at the Cahiers du Cinéma before turning towards making her own movies in her very personal and partly autobiographical style. With films like FATHER OF MY CHILDREN, THINGS TO COME or BERGMAN ISLAND the 41-year-old has sounded out the crises and triumphs of the 21st century middle-class life like no one else.
