It's not often that a German movie features images as powerful as Timm Kröger’s mixture of mystery thriller and film noir. Young post-grad Johannes Leinart travels to a physics conference in the Swiss Alps in 1962. There he gets entangled in a bizarre murder case and falls for a mysterious pianist. And that’s not all: In the mountains, there are strange occurrences that seem to contradict all traditional notions of time and space. THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING was in competition at this year's Venice Film Festival.
