Swiss director Lionel Baier steps onto a minefield with his latest movie: In an EU refugee camp everybody is preparing for a visit by Merkel and Macron, scripted like a TV performance. Migrants being used as props, in a way, to the chagrin of EU official Nathalie, whose personal problems mirror the major dilemmas of the EU’s refugee policy. Maybe it needed the view from neutral Switzerland to illustrate both the flaws and the strengths of the EU and its often times Kafkaesque bureaucracy so pointedly.
