A documentary series that feels like a crime thriller: In the 80s the infamous Hamburg red-light district of St. Pauli is awash with organized crime. Special Unit 65 is established in order to chase and convict the men behind it all – and investigate corruption deep into the higher echelons of the Hamburg police. With archival footage and interviews this series paints a vivid picture of the volatile police work in the 80s – all this before the backdrop of the AIDS pandemic, squatters in Hamburgs Hafenstraße and a conservative rollback in Germany.
