THE SOUND OF COLOGNE

Nationally the musical image of Cologne is dominated by carnival music and Kölschrock, but internationally the city is renowned mostly as a centre of electronic music. THE SOUND OF COLOGNE follows this narrative from Karlheinz Stockhausen and the legendary WDR studio for electronic music via the Krautrock of Can till today. It becomes apparent that direct lines of inspiration can be drawn over several decades and that different music scenes were actually closely linked by influential clubs, labels and record stores.
