In Sässlen, a place somewhere in former East Germany, post-reunification upswing and love affairs rage. Micha and Sylvia want to get married, but Micha cheats on Sylvia with Kerstin and Sylvia cheats on Micha with Ade - a black man called »Blondi« who is star of the regional football team. The local construction firm’s creative bookkeeping practices coupled with the loss of the striker Blondi bring things in Sässlen to a boil. LIBERATED ZONE is a fast paced tragicomedy, an impassioned plea for anarchy and tolerance. The film is Norbert Baumgarten’s graduation film at the HFF »Konrad Wolf« in Potsdam.
